The Enlightenment during the French Revolution

The Enlightenment period influenced the French Revolution because the reason the Enlightenment came into existence was to question what we believed in. The thinkers used science to prove whether certain aspects of their lives were true or not. Spiritual beings such as God could not be proved or disproved so most of the thinkers were atheist. Since the thinkers kept trying to discourage others from believing in God, the people of France began to question if King Louis XVI had really been chosen by God to rule France. The people had already been questioning Louis XVI's ability to rule their country after seeing how unfairly the third estate was being taxed and how their economy kept getting worse. With all of these occurring around the same time the people finally snapped and stormed the Bastille and began the French Revolution. .external image 06_french_revolution.jpg
